Privacy Policy
Last updated: 28 September 2026
This policy explains what personal information this website collects, why, and what you can do about it. It is written for UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).
Who we are
B&C Kebab & Burger (BC Burger), Maritime Way, Chatham Maritime, St Mary’s Island, Chatham, Kent ME4 3ED, is responsible for your information. To contact us about your data, email admin@bcburger.co.uk or ask at the counter.
What we collect and why
- Orders: your name, and your email and mobile number if you give them, plus your table number, items, notes, total, payment method and payment reference, the time and your device’s IP address. We use this to make and hand over your order, email your confirmation, sort out any problems and keep sales records. We use the IP address to stop prank orders.
- Account: your email, the name and mobile number you add, and when you signed up and last signed in.
- Sign-in links: when you ask for a link we record your email, IP address and the time, to limit how many links can be sent. The link itself is only stored in a scrambled (hashed) form.
- Deals list: your name, email, mobile number and the time you signed up, so we can send you offers by email and text. We pass these details to the email and text marketing service we use to send the offers. Every message it sends has an unsubscribe option.
- Payments: Stripe and PayPal collect your card or PayPal details on their own pages. We only get back whether the payment went through and a payment reference.
Our legal reasons
- Contract: to take and complete your order and run your account.
- Legal obligation: to keep sales records for tax.
- Legitimate interests: to keep the website secure and stop abuse, such as prank orders and sign-in link spam.
- Consent: for the deals list. You can withdraw it at any time.
Stored on your device
To save you retyping, your browser keeps your basket, the checkout details you last used (name, email, mobile) and a link to your last order. This stays on your device and is not sent to us until you place an order. You can clear it in your browser settings. Cookies are covered in our Cookie Policy.
Who we share it with
- SiteGround: hosts this website and its database, and sends our emails.
- Stripe: takes card, Apple Pay and Google Pay payments. We send the order ID, items and amount, and your email if you gave one so Stripe can send a receipt.
- PayPal: takes PayPal payments. We send the order ID and amount.
- Marketing service: if you join the deals list, your name, email and mobile number are passed to the service we use to send offers by email and text.
- Google: the map on our homepage loads from Google, so Google receives your IP address.
Stripe and PayPal also handle payment data under their own privacy policies. Some of these companies may process data outside the UK, using the legal safeguards UK law requires. We do not sell your information. Shop staff see orders on the in-shop order screen.
How long we keep it
- Orders: as long as UK tax law requires us to keep sales records.
- Account: until you delete it in My Account. Your past orders are kept as sales records.
- Deals list: until you unsubscribe (using the link in any offer) or ask us to remove you.
- Sign-in links: each link stops working after 15 minutes or once used. The request record is deleted after 24 hours.
How we protect it
- The website runs over a secure (HTTPS) connection.
- Card details never reach our website.
- Sign-in links work once, expire after 15 minutes and are stored hashed.
- Sign-in cookies are signed so they cannot be changed or faked.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- give you a copy of the information we hold about you
- correct it
- delete it
- limit how we use it, or object to how we use it
- send it to you or another organisation in a common format
- take you off the deals list
You can change your name and mobile number, or delete your account, yourself in My Account. For anything else, email admin@bcburger.co.uk or ask at the counter. We reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page if how we use your information changes. The date at the top shows the current version.
